A hardy evergreen species of erect habit having dark green, elliptic oblong leathery net-veined leaves. Yellow flowers appear during spring followed by blue-black berries. Long spines and some great red autumn colour when shedding old leaves. Any well drained fertile soil, sun or shade. Height to 1.8m
