Welcome to our Rose selection

Year on year roses prove to be the nation’s favourite plant. To help you choose your roses we have gathered together a range from various breeders to give you a well-balanced range of good varieties. Our primary criteria is to select varieties that are healthy, scented and good repeat bloomers. With some varieties all of these characteristics are not possible, but we would not be without them.

We have created our own group of roses called MODERN CLASSICS (M.C.)

These are our garden worthy range specially chosen by our experts here at Hortus Loci from many different rose breeders. We have gathered this range together from many groups of roses that have the characteristics of classic shrub roses but have the benefits of modern breeding with particular emphasis on disease resistance. They are often slightly smaller in stature so are ideal for smaller gardens.

The roses we sell are divided up into a few simple groups

Climbers & Ramblers

Hybrid Tea

Shrub

Floribunda (multicluster)

Ground Cover

Ramblers are more suited to growing through large plants and trees. Select climbers for pillars and obelisks.

Modern roses, which have large flowers on a single stem. Ideal for bunches of cut flowers.

Shrub roses are a large and diverse group of roses. They are usually larger plants than modern bush roses. Easy to grow with only light pruning required.

The result of crossing hybrid tea and polyantha shrub roses. They bear lots of flowers held in clusters rather than a single flower.

Tough plants. Modern breeding such as the ‘Flower Carpet’ series which can often flower year round.
